Ball Handing - Generating Power in the Pass

Rating:
from 2 members ratings
In this session we look at simple ways you can take the tick out of your players' long distance passing and get them generating greater power in their passes while you're at it!

Most players will have some form of tick in their passing technique, be it a shuffle step or large wind-up. This is a movement which slows the passing action and also signals their intent, making it easier for the opposition to read the signs and react quicker.

To remove this cue we aim to make the passing action as efficient as possible by looking at the punch pass, a passing technique which is driven by the triceps. By breaking down the skill, with a focus on the mechanics of the pass, we build the skill up from the bottom - starting with the fingers, then the arms and lastly the upper torso to make the pass as powerful as possible, with no wasted movement.
